Have you ever stepped into nature and felt the world slow down, where the rustle of leaves or the whisper of wind becomes a conversation with your soul?
I have. And it’s from experiencing this deep connection to myself and the insights that have come as a result that I have partnered with Chris Krauss to create BraveSpace Leadership – a Community for others like us, who understand and treasure that feeling when we’re out in the wild, breathing deeply, feeling our heartbeat and so ALIVE!
Silent Hikes
Our first offering is what we’re calling a “Silent Hikes” – a gentle walk where silence is your guide. Facilitated by us, these walks are more than a stroll; they’re a sacred pause, a chance to step away from the clamour of daily life and turn inward. Whether you’re seeking clarity amid life’s challenges or simply craving a moment of peace, this practice offers a space to listen- to the earth, to your own heartbeat, to the quiet strength that resides within.
The idea for Silent Hikes came from a personal longing to find balance in a world that often feels too loud. For me, as someone who has navigated the overwhelm of being an deeply sensitive AudHD mother, entrepreneur, partner, friend and so many other roles, silence has been a teacher, revealing insights I couldn’t hear in the noise.
Paired with Chris’s deep connection to nature from his guiding experience, we’ve crafted an experience that blends our shared wisdom. On September 20, 2025, we’ll gather for our first hike, and I can’t wait to share this with you. It’s not about pushing your limits or racing to a destination. It’s about moving at an easy pace, allowing the rhythm of your breath to sync with the trail beneath your feet.
What can you expect?
Picture a leisurely walk through scenic trails, where the only sounds are those of the natural world – birds calling, water trickling, the soft crunch of earth. We’ll pause at intervals for moments of reflection, giving you space to notice what arises – perhaps a memory, a shift in perspective, or simply a sense of calm. There’s no need for conversation; instead, you’ll connect with yourself and the group in a shared silence that creates a different kind of community feel.
Bring comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and an open heart and consider leaving your phone behind to fully immerse in the experience. Many who’ve joined similar walks have shared how this quiet time uncovers hidden thoughts or inspiration, or brings them unexpected peace, often deepening their sense of connection with themselves, as well as with others on the path.
This practice isn’t new, but its application here is personal to us. Silence has long been a tool for meditation and healing across cultures. Think of the Zen monks or the quiet retreats of indigenous and other sacred traditions. For me, it’s been a lifeline during times of overwhelm, like when illness or business stress or relational tensions pulled me inward. The Silent Hike is an extension of that. A way to invite others like you into a space where you can shed the weight of expectations and simply be.
Chris brings his steady presence, ensuring the trails are safe and the pace is gentle, while I hold the vision of a community finding strength together through reflective practice, and integrated group coaching afterwards. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful step is the one taken in stillness, aligning with our belief that nature and quiet can heal what words cannot.
As you prepare for your first Silent Hike, reflect on your own relationship with silence.
Does Silence unsettle you, revealing fears or unfinished thoughts? Or does it soothe, offering a refuge from the constant chatter of life?
There’s no right or wrong – only an opportunity to listen. Some might find it challenging at first, especially if they’re used to filling every moment with sound. Yet, that discomfort often transforms into a gift, as you will discover a resilience you didn’t know you had. Others might feel an immediate sense of peace, their minds settling into a rhythm with the earth. Whatever arises, it’s yours to explore, and we’re here to support that journey.
The benefits of silence are backed by more than intuition. Studies suggest it reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and boosts creativity. Findings that resonate with my own healing journey, where rest and quiet have soothed my nervous system.
On our Silent Hikes, you might notice your breath deepen, your thoughts clarify, or a connection with the group forms without words – a silent understanding that speaks volumes. It’s a practice that challenges the rush of modern life, inviting you to reclaim your inner peace and power. This isn’t about performance or being the fittest on the trail; it’s about presence.
You’re Invited
We encourage you to join us on September 20, 2025, to experience this for yourself. No prior experience is needed – just a willingness to step into the unknown with an open heart. We’re starting in Cape Town, and who knows how far we’ll walk across the globe one day in silence. If you’re inspired from afar, consider how silence might weave into your own life right now, don’t wait to come to us to begin.
Silent Hikes are about creating a community where each person’s journey enriches the whole. After the hike, we’ll have a Sharing Circle to hear your reflections, and a few days later we’ll offer an Integration Call – to support you to ground your insights into daily routines and habits to create long-term wellbeing.
As you read this, think about a time when silence brought you something unexpected – maybe a moment of clarity, a surge of energy, or a quiet joy.
For me, it’s been in the valleys of my life, where stillness revealed my purpose. I invite you to bring that memory to the hike, letting it guide you as we walk together.
This is more than an event – it’s a movement toward inner peace, a chance to discover that silence isn’t empty, but full of strength waiting to be claimed.
Join us, and let’s get silent so we can listen to our soul’s voice and embrace our truth, together, in nature.
